Pre-Certification
I've tried to make it easy to prepare for the course! You’ll need a computer, reliable internet, a set of headphones, and a free basic level Zoom account to get started.
You’ll also need to purchase two books
Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving, by Pete Walker; and
The Body Keeps the Score, by Bessel van der Kolk.
And don’t forget to bring your enthusiasm!

Post-Certification
Earning your CTS is a wonderful accomplishment! The knowledge shared through this educational experience will prepare you to lead a more trauma-informed and trauma-trained professional and personal life. You can also choose to enroll in the second course, leading to certification as a Trauma Recovery Coach.

Schedule

This is a fifteen-hour course that meets once a week for 1.5 hours over 10 weeks. You can choose a course that meets Mondays (7:00 PM to 8:30 PM EST) or a course that meets Wednesdays (7:00 PM to 8:30 PM EST) starting the week of January 16, 2023, and winding down the week of March 20, 2023. Both courses contain the same material. The course is completely online. There will be a meet and greet informal session that is highly recommended but not mandatory on January 9 and January 11 at the regular course time.

Learning Outcomes
This course will introduce and strengthen your knowledge in the following areas:

The definition of trauma, its subtypes, and classifications, including moral injury

The biological aftereffects of trauma on the brain, nervous system and the body systemically including Polyvagal Theory

The psychological aftereffects of trauma

The emotional aftereffects of trauma

The Parish Trauma Response Model – a framework for how people respond to and recover from trauma

The intersection of trauma, attachment and childhood psychosocial development

Healthy and toxic shame

Somatic trauma responses including Fear and Shame Adaptation

Understanding and de-pathologizing trauma coping strategies

Intergenerational trauma

Understanding the multi-dimensionality of trauma survivors, being able to understand trauma in the context of social, gender, racial, ethnic and historical frameworks

Relationship rupture and repair in the context of trauma

What is trauma informed care and how can you incorporate it into your business’ policies, procedures and processes as well as understanding the needs of your clients who are trauma survivors

How to work with trauma survivors safely

How to remain centered, grounded and anchored in your work which benefits you as well as the clients you work with who have experienced trauma
Investment
The cost of the course is $1800, with a 25% deposit ($450) due to the IAOTRC upon registering. You can choose to pay the remainder ($1350) by Monday, January 9, 2023, or contact me for payment plan options. Payment plans have small fees attached.
